Die grinder is a handheld device that is used for polishing, sanding, honing or machining metals. The name “die grinder” comes from the fact that this power tool was used to make precise contours of molds and dies. This hand machine was heavily relied upon in the olden days before the refining of technology development with time.
Rotary die grinders perform a variety of jobs such as:
The following are the safety precautions to take before and while using a die grinder
#.Caution and a high level of skill while using the tool is necessary in order to avoid any injuries. The grinder rotates really fast therefore the chances of getting injured without using skill and alertness might cause injuries
#.Always wear safety goggles and a full face visor
#.Wearing ear protection if the grinder is to be used for long periods of time
#.Remove any dangling pieces of jewelry and ensure that long hair is tied securely on top of the head to prevent it from getting caught in the rotating parts.
#.Ensure that the tool is unplugged while installing the parts of the

The following steps should be taken while using a die grinder
1.Read the manual
With every new tool, it is important to carefully read the manual before operating it. This will show more about the tool such as the metals that can be operated, the way to assemble the tool (if it is required) and the tool parts that can be used with the tool.
2.Inspect the tool
Check the tool to see whether there is any part that is broken and also that it is properly lubricated.
3.Pick out the required tool you will use
Depending on the material and what should be done to it, decide on the tool that you will require to use and set it aside ready for assembly.
4.Put in your required tools
Attach the required tools that should be used to shape, cut or put a hole in the metal. This is done by opening the collet and inserting the grinding bits.
It is important to ensure that these grinding bits are compatible with the die grinder and that they are recommended by the manufacturer.
5.Hold the material to be shaped or drilled on a bench visor
Ensure to hold the material to be worked securely placed on the bench visor. This is in order to effectively work on the metal to attain the best results.
Holding the material down with one hand is not advisable since the chances of the metal moving while being worked on are high. This will cause the metal to be shaped or drilled poorly or will cause serious injuries to the user.
6.Hold the die grinder steady and begin to work
Ensure that you hold the die grinder steady with your hand before turning it on to start the work. Place the grinder bit onto the edge of the metal that is to be worked on gently and guide the grinder in the direction of shaping, cutting or drilling.
7.Remove the grinder bit
Once the metal has been satisfactorily worked on, the grinder bit should be removed (after the die grinder has completely halted and is unplugged), cleaned and properly stored for the next time it will be used.
